昨夜清霜冷絮裯
Last night， clear frost chilled the quilt．
紛紛紅葉滿階頭
Red leaves were scattered all over the steps．
園林盡掃西風去
The garden was swept clean by the west wind．
惟有黃花不負秋
Only the yellow chrysanthemums live up to autumn．
當凜冽的寒風吹落了一地的黃葉
When the cold wind blows down yellow leaves all over the ground，
立冬如約而至
Start of Winter arrives as promised．
立冬是二十四節氣中的第19個節氣
Start of Winter is the 19th solar term in the twenty－four solar terms
也是冬天的第一個節氣
and also the first solar term of winter．
立冬的“冬”既有冬寒之意
The＂winter＂ in Start of Winter has both the meaning of cold in winter
也有終了的意思
and the meaning of coming to an end．
此時秋去冬臨
At this time， autumn passes and winter arrives，
各地都呈現出秋冬之交時的獨特風景
and everywhere presents the unique scenery at the turn of autumn and winter．
有詩云
As the poem says，
吟行不憚遙風景盡堪抄
Walking and chanting， not fearing the distance．
The scenery is all worth copying．
天水清相入秋冬氣始交
The sky and water merge in clarity．
At the beginning of autumn and winter， qi begins to mingle．
飲虹消海曲宿雁下塘坳
The rainbow after rain disappears at the sea bend．
Wild geese stop and rest by the pond．
歸去須乘月松門許夜敲
When going back， one must ride on the moon．
The pine gate allows knocking at night．
立冬至萬物藏
At the Start of Winter， everything hides．
立冬過后
After Start of Winter，
人們完成秋季果實的收曬儲藏
people complete the harvesting and drying of autumn fruits and store them．
而動物們腳步匆匆
Animals are in a hurry
也開始藏于巢穴躲避風寒
and also begin to hide in their nests to avoid the cold wind．
在詩人蘇軾眼中立冬就是這樣一番景象
In the eyes of the poet Su Shi， Start of Winter is such a scene：
荷盡已無擎雨蓋
The lotus leaves have withered and there is no more cover to hold up the rain．
菊殘猶有傲霜枝
The chrysanthemums are withered but still have the frost－resistant branches．
一年好景君須記
You should remember the beautiful scenery of the year．
最是橙黃橘綠時
The most beautiful time is when oranges and tangerines are yellow and green．
雖然立冬過后
天氣開始變得寒冷
Although the weather starts to become cold after Start of Winter，
然而面對漸起的冰霜
還是有人不想錯過這秋末初冬的美景
there are still people who don＇t want to miss the beautiful scenery of late autumn and early winter．
抓緊時光去郊外賞景
They seize the time to go on an outing in the suburbs
以不辜負大自然的饋贈
to live up to the gift of nature．
